Based in Boston, Massachusetts Atlantic Fish© has been in business since 1978. Over the years, the company website had undergone several overhauls as is appropriate. At first, my latest work on this website involved simple color changes. After several discussions, it was decided to rebuild the entire website.
Beginning with the redevelopment of the homepage slider, Atlantic Fish explained how the update process was complicated. They felt it required more training and was not user friendly. Having evaluated and worked on the website, I could not have agreed more. A new slider was introduced into the website. It is user-friendly and actually improved website speed.
Atlantic Fish had hired the services of a 3rd party to provide video based virtual tours. Collaborative efforts allowed me to implement these virtual tours across the website. It wasn't long before we received positive words from customers. The most popular testimonials related to the ability to see the interior of the restaurant.
Atlantic Fish© required an easier way to display their Single Platform menu's on the website. While this functionality had already existed, it required developer assistance to display new menus. I developed a plugin that allowed the client to create new posts and choose a menu from a selection of existing menus. In the end, what used to take an hour to do now took a meager 15 minutes.
Prior to rebuilding the website, ADA compliance came up in discussion. The previous version of the website was riddled with usability errors and contrast issues. In working with the designated web designer, we came up with a color pallette that satisfied all of the contrast issues. In terms of functionality, the newly developed WordPress theme also remedied the usability errors. Upon running several tests with the W3C Consortium tool, all of the usability errors and contrast issues were taken care of. The website is now 100% ADA compliant.
