Among my favorite websites to work on, Ultimate Sack© represents quite the endeavor I had ever been involved with. The company website had been subjected to several phases and renditions over the years. Among such phases, my team and I had essentially rebuilt the website several times over. Given the success of our work, the owner of Ultimate Sack made it clear that no one else was to touch the website.
Beginning with the product pages, we had built a custom "build your product" feature which was based off of native WooCommerce functionality. Customers could essentially customize every aspect of their chosen products. From main product color changes, to zipper styles and complimentary offers, customers enjoyed a complete and easy shopping experience. We also made it possible to customize products once they made it to the purchasing phase.
The original main navigation was deemed too simple. It didn't offer any additional information as to where the links would take visitors. I implemented functionality that displayed a product description, image and current price of a given product. This style of mega menu left no question as to what customers could expect to find on the page they navigated to.
Prior to my involvement with this website, the previous website developers left quite a bit of unused functionality. As such, the website was difficult to update. My team and I held several discussions as to which WordPress plugins were either unnecessary, or could be replaced with native WordPress functionality. The result of such removals and replacements made the website easier to work with.
Code consolidation and website speed optimization went hand in hand. Functionality that no longer applied had been removed. The outcome of such efforts resulted in a faster website and shopping experience.
